Art of Surrendering
a poem
I’m constricting
my insides squeeze
press me down
I’m spiraling
greedily clutching control
iron-fisted
needing to release
this feeling
then I remind myself
relax
I inhale
focus on my breath
diaphragm filling
lungs inflating
up into exhaling
as worries flow
out between my lips
like soft, airy feathers
cleansing in the air
With each breath
I surrender
a little more
my body softens
with each connection
to a flow of
life energy
I gently fill up
infused with light
I step
into my knowing
a place I’ve nurtured
once a seedling
reaching for the sun
now a practice
ever deepening
learning to stand
in my divinity
