It was a fateful day and I was going to the market to buy some stuff. The market is quite far from my house. So I boarded an autorickshaw.

On our way to the market, we met a passenger, an elderly man old enough to be my father.

When the old man stopped the autorickshaw, he pleaded with the driver that he’s headed to the same destination, but he had only hundred naira (N100), Nigerian currency. That’s around 6 cents in dollars.

Unfortunately, the driver refused. So he kicked off. After we had moved a few meters away, immediately, I asked him to stop and give the man a ride. “I’ll cover the rest of his fare,” I told the driver.

Furthermore, I inquired how much it will cost the old man to get to his destination. And the driver said N250 which is equivalent to 15 cents. Moved by my gesture, the driver told me that the man should just pay N200 (12 cents equivalent).

Then I added N100, and we all drove to our destination safely.
