Becoming the Storm

a poem

Photo by Nikolas Noonan on Unsplash

The air is thick
A storm is coming
My head aches
As the pressure builds
I turn my face to the sky

Bruised and swollen
Full to bursting
It will open soon
Holding back
But needing release
It is here, now

Wrenched open
Torn apart
Flowing in an unstoppable torrent
Pouring out
Covering everything it touches
Washing the debris away

Head back, eyes closed
Drinking it in
Granting it access
Allowing it to cleanse
To release the wild
That we echo in each other

This piece was taken from my debut collection ‘Climbing In The Dark’.
