Bi Girl

A Poem about discovery

Know Thyself, Heal Thyself

When did it begin?

A lingering gaze, a brush of fingers, the sweet smell of perfume caressing my senses with its sweetness.

Did I want to be her? Or be with her?

Frantic thoughts of denial
Unrelenting, unforgiving, telling me it couldn’t be true.

Am I? How? Why?

I long wandered the vast spectrum of love’s gentle touch.
Black or white, Pink or Blue, Right or Wrong.
The finality of the binary withered against my aching desires.

Often misunderstood by those who crave the certainty, the definitive, the “normal.”

A phase, an uncertainty, a fleeting moment of feelings I knew to be true.
“Pick a side,” As this was expected, demanded of me.

Expected to ignore the very essence of myself, the part of me so ingrained in my soul, desperate for release.

I prefer to sit between dawn and dusk, sun and moon, thriving in the duality of my nature.

The beauty of the in-between, in twilight, is where I stand.
Love has many faces, and instead of fractures, I see symphonies.
