Writing Prompt Response
Core of Crimson
Poem

“October is about trees revealing colors they’ve hidden all year. People have an October as well.” — J. M. Storm
On the outside,
I am a somber tree,
Draped in neutral tones,
Of light straw colors.
Inside,
I burn with an impulse,
Of wanting to start anew.
Layers of ancient bark,
Do not reveal a core of crimson,
Bursting with feeling;
The vivid orange,
Erupting.
— Demanding to be let out.
