Micro Non-fiction

We no longer stay in the moment. Our days are too full to be preoccupied with swallowing each other’s existences. You chase wealth, and I pursue utility.

However, we used to be a force of hope healing the poor, but now we can’t even band-aid our silent distance. Did we let ego do this to us? Perhaps one of us cared too much or not enough. Back against back, we fought the same injustice, but now we don’t even dare share the same sky.

Meanwhile, the grass is yellow without your big chocolate smile. I know, hermano, sentimentalism is getting the best of me. I miss you, brother, the sugar cane scent of your soccer sweat, and the esperanza we devoted our lives to protect. Together. We are playing to be men now — no more youth to dream.
