Using your intuition to navigate throughout life is a goal and lifestyle for many people. However, sometimes listening to your intuition can be hard because your intrusive thoughts get in the way. Intrusive thoughts are thoughts that randomly pop up in your head and stem from fear while intuitive thoughts are thoughts that you get from your higher self.

How To Tell The Difference

It can be difficult to tell the difference between the two because they both pop up in your head the same way. However, the key difference is the feeling they induce. Intrusive thoughts are usually based on how you feel about something and your biased opinion on it. For example, if you’re someone who likes to unconsciously self-sabotage themselves, every time you’re setting a new goal for yourself your brain might tell you, “You’ll never make it, it’s too unrealistic.” These thoughts are usually anxiety-driven which is why they’re negative most of the time. Anxious thoughts come from fears and the “What if’s” of a situation. I used to struggle with intrusive thoughts so much that I thought I had an actual demon living in my head!
