Aging often brings to mind fine lines, reduced flexibility, lower energy levels, and a higher chance of health problems. How about all the fascinating things we learn about ourselves along the way, though?

Think about those unexpected moments that catch us off guard, leading us to say things like, “I had no idea I was capable of that,” or “I never recognized that my perspective has changed,” or even, “Wow, this feels entirely new.” These experiences genuinely embody the essence of aging.

I know at 27 I do not look as youthful as I did in my teens, and pressuring myself into trying to achieve a level of “beauty” that somewhat resembles younger me is not something I strive for. I strive for acceptance, and I strive to keep my heart open to noticing the little things that have changed about myself internally.

A few days ago, I discovered that some fabrics just don’t sit well with my skin anymore. I’ve grown to appreciate the feel of silk and other fabrics that are gentle, rather than just throwing on any synthetic garment.
