I Tried Aerial Yoga and OMG!
It’s a great metaphor for life
Hammocks suspended in the air, a super cool and friendly yoga instructor, and a class of 4 beginners who tried to hide the fact that we were a bit scared with our chatter and nervous laughter — my first Aerial Yoga class was a total gasp-fest.
Booking this class was a spontaneous act of “I want to start pushing myself out of my comfort zone more” followed by hours of surfing the Internet to find something that would fit. I came across the instructor’s website and what really convinced me to give it a try was her story of how she got into Aerial Yoga:
I have felt emotionally exhausted for most of my life. And if you’re in the habit of saying, ‘I’ve been really tired lately, but I’m not sure why,’ and ‘lately’ has been lasting for several years, you’re probably in the same place.
For me, the world had become so exhausting that one of the personal reasons I moved my handmade business strictly online was to no longer have to leave the house, meet people, or work with them face-to-face. And I hid away from the world for 8 years.
What I didn’t understand was that it wasn’t the people who overwhelmed me, but the fact that I internalized everyone’s emotions and never took the time to clear everything out and make space for my own emotions and needs…
