A dear friend is slowly losing life from emphysema. He has always been a proud, independent man who has been surviving in a collapsing world of diminishing lung function. I have been helping his wife, and a good friend who no longer drives, with transportation to buy groceries and other errands. She is ill with auto-immune diseases.
