As a neurodivergent thinker, I’ve spent years chasing productivity. I’m like a little squirrel digging around for that nut…I know I put that thing here someplace. That is until I learned to use journal planning for my mental health and productivity support.

I’ve learned that planning helps me stay organized, and also not planning helps me stay organized. Meaning, the neurodivergent brain cannot simply plan the day and carry out that plan. Our brains need the structure of planning, and the open-ended practice of journaling techniques…together. This is the sweet spot that helps me with the mental health aspects of my neuro-spicy brain.

What Is Journal Planning?

I’ve worked as a wellness and productivity writer for over five years. On the outside I appear to have it all together — I run a successful freelancing business, have steady clients, bylines, etc.

But it hasn’t been easy. There has been one struggle I haven’t been very public about — the mental health and productivity challenges I’ve faced as a neurodivergent worker.
