Kicked While You’re Down
Is there any greater pain than this?

THE PAIN
There may be no greater pain than the pain of more pain being added to the pain you already have.
Especially when it comes from someone unexpected.
Fooled again.
When you’re down, you’re hurting.
It happens. You have pain.
Your hope is to work your way through it.
Your hope is to find a helping hand from a friend.
Your hope is that there is recognition, empathy, care.
But when the kick comes, you curl up in more pain.
Kicking someone when they’re already down.
This feels like the essence of selfishness.
But I’m sure there is more at play here.
It’s hard to see it right now.
Though I’m trying.
TRYING TO UNDERSTAND
I suppose if I do what I hoped others would do for me, I would recognize their pain as well. Something in there isn’t right.
What is it that would cause them to harm another person already in pain? My only guess is greater pain.
My other guess is I misread the entire situation to begin with. Perhaps they aren’t who I thought they were. Was it some kind of protection for them? I could understand acting in protection. I just don’t understand the threat.
I want to understand, so I sit here trying.
It’s difficult to see past my own pain.
So I likely won’t get there now.
I don’t even know if I care.
It hurts so bad.
One deep loss after another.
And in such hard way.
FEELING IT ALL
There may be no greater pain than the pain of more pain being added to the pain you already have.
But I’ll take it, it’s what Life has given me.
More than anything else right now, I am learning to Let Life Lead.
Get out of the way, feel what she brings me,
and trust all will be the best it can be.
And so I will feel all the pain.
And I will let it pass thru.
Let people be people.
Let me be me.
Let go and LET’S GO.
