How a Garden caused a huge change in personal growth.

My mom always had an interest in gardening. Wherever she could manage someplace to plant some seeds she did and it always ended in good results. So in here, I am going to write about her journey and the numerous benefits she received after she started gardening on the terrace.

The pleasure of fulfilling a hobby

My mother couldn’t figure out how much she is into gardening and how good she is at that. She is 52 years old and it’s never too late to start working on your hobby.

She started it at the beginning of this pandemic. Now she says she spends the best time of her day on the terrace while looking after her garden. Gardening gives her enormous joy. Not only that when she plucks fresh fruit or vegetables it also makes her very excited to cook. She is also sharing fruits and vegetables with her friends and family. All of that gives her very positive energy.

The effects of her garden

After my mom started gardening she is being more relaxed and happy. The difference in her is distinguishable. She is a very busy woman with an office to catch up with every morning and coming back home taking care of kids and cooking, she has a lot on her plate. Still, she manages to spend enough time in her garden because it’s her passion. She has been very depressed lately and she says gardening helped her a lot with it.

My mom’s hobby had other silver linings too. We are having fresh fruits and vegetables every other day. In last winter, we hardly had any vegetables from the market. She grew eggplants, long beans, tomatoes, bitter melons, spinach, lady gingers, and many more. Sometimes we had tea on the terrace. We pluck the fresh mints and put them in our hot cup of green tea. It also made a good enough ambiance for me to write when I am not feeling too motivated or a place to read books and sip coffee.

The best effect of her gardening that I think is that she is also inspiring other people to plant trees. After she started gardening on the terrace, everyone from our building also started doing it. Not only that, but we see the roofs nearby are also getting filled with trees. They all say they all got inspired by my mom. It not only looks good but it’s so much beneficial for our environment.

My mom’s personal growth from it

She learned to love herself again with the help of her garden. It was like she found herself in a new way. Her anguish-filled morning gets better when she goes into her garden in the early morning and has her tea and breathes in the fresh air by her garden.

She realized like others she can also live a happy life. She also deserves to fulfill her hobbies. She deserves to do what she loves. It made her strong, confident and most importantly it made her aware of the importance of her own happiness. I can see a big difference in her. It might be a small thing to start but she is surely getting stronger by it every day.

My realization from her hobby

I also get inspired thinking it is actually never too late to start working on your hobby. It might be something very little but it is important for you to identify the little things that make you happy. I mean isn’t that the whole point of your life, living the smallest moment to the fullest. You always don’t need big things, a lot of money or you have to be talented enough to start a hobby. You can just start doing it anytime you want. If you like doing it then don’t stop doing it.

She took a lot of time to understand this simple hobby. She somehow never started it. When she did, she was a happy woman and she had enormous growth. So there is still time for you. If you feel hesitant to do something, don’t wait on it. Just start doing it from today. Try to find out your hobbies, the little things that give you joy.

This quarantine even gave us a lot of free time to actually start working on our hobby. So, don’t wait up. Don’t waste this opportunity. Utilize this time. Start doing the things you love.
