SEASHELLS
Do you hear?

There are several seashells at this beach.
Some small.
Some not so.
This one,
has brown wave-like
patterns
running down
the length of its back.
There is a gaping wide
opening at the top
that looks as if the shell
has something important to say.
I place the shell down,
bottom tip firmly dug into the sand,
so the mouth has space to speak.
The sand is soft.
The noon sun shimmers a white hue today.
There are several people at the beach, also.
I look at you
and wonder if you
will hear the shell.
