She was a whisper in the chaos, teaching me about love through the subtle weight of her presence. But even whispers fade, and I had to let her go.

Before her, my heart was a narrow crack beneath my front door, barely allowing any light through. Each tender snuggle, each gentle kiss, widened that crack, letting warmth seep in. Then, one day, without warning, the doors were blown off their hinges, and love flooded in, unrestrained.

I became less self-consumed. Less distracted. Less hurried. More free to love.

As months turned to years and years overflowed into decades, she silently mentored me in the art of intentionality. Through her mere existence, I grew to be thoughtful and proactive. She was a reminder that relationships are like fragile nests, woven with effort and patience. But I had to learn to take the first step. I had to muster the courage to extend my hand instead of waiting for her to come to me.

Often, I remained caught in my thoughts. Yet, when I nestled her in my lap, the world fell silent. Her body, weightless, yet carrying a gravitational pull all its own. Soft and warm to the touch, her movements were unpredictable, drawing me into a trance of focused attention. She was
