Isn’t it funny just how hard it is to slow down, to give ourselves permission to enjoy ourselves and sink down into the body?

Summer has been heady, fast moving and full, and not always in the best of ways.

Just like I forget to turn on music which has the ability to change my mood so effortlessly, I also find it hard to stop the distractions I find for myself and simply go outside.

Last week the world conspired to get in my way and offer me a gift I’d be silently craving.

Summers final gift

The winds of change come, blustering on their way, grumbling about picnics, parties and too much peopling.

Behind them arrives the rain and first clouds of the season change, the cooling temperatures an instant relief & release of the outward pulling pressure.

But then, out of nowhere, a moment of sweet goodbye as summer returns for a stolen, last minute kiss.

Eyes closed I allow myself to fall into the embrace, warmth that seeps into skin, gentle breezes and a meadow stretched out before me in invitation.

Echoes of childhood laughter, ghosts of chattering friends, and most of all the freedom to empty time of all expectations.
