The Anatomy of a Transition Is Not as Sexy as We Would Hope
Transitions are not smooth, sleek, or slender experiences.
As I find myself navigating a significant breakup, pivoting yet again in my business and living nomadically on top of that, I am reminded yet again of how uncomfortable transitions are.
It’s extremely difficult when the things you used to hold on to for security and familiarity slip like sand between your fingers.
And it’s not even like there is anything else to hold on to — transitions require you to pass through this period of feeling like you’re wandering in the wilderness, somewhere in between who you used to be and who you are becoming.
Transitions make it really hard to be cute.
Transitions are not smooth, sleek, or slender experiences. They are lumpy, ragged, and annoyingly wide open.
We’d like to think transitions are the process of embarking on a new beginning that is certain to end well and be better than anything that has ever come before it.
Nope.
