The Beauty of Water

Barriers cast to the stream

Sun blazing onto water, photo shot from under the surface
Thank you Milos Prelevic on Unspash for the image

I had a wonderful dream,
Where I wasn’t afraid of the water
Barriers cast to the stream,
No longer sister or daughter

I was swimming with people who showed me the landscape
It went on forever — still, beautiful water
Thick plants with their branches wrapped round in large spheres
Were lining the paths that we swam to discover

The water has always been fearful to me
’Cause it represented the flow of expression
That I had been holding back from being free
Resisting the flow, clinging onto suppression

Both of my parents on earth for this journey
Are scared of the water in different ways
My father’s afraid of the power she offers
He says she’s more dangerous than fire in her rage

My mother remembers a fearful encounter
A time where she went in the water alone
She wasn’t as strong as the tidal expression
And waves began pounding her into the stone
