The Beginning of Love
Poetry on self-love and accepting my imperfect body
Day-to-day
I was used to the way
To hit the gym and
Held the weights
I carved the body
Night after night
With reps and sets
For biceps and abs
I rest in sweat
As I quest myself
I didn’t find it
In the shape I wanted
I couldn’t see,
The hatred inside
To run away
From the way I am
I wish I searched
Inside my heart
To find me
And the love I need
I burnt the figure
Along with my fear
To accept me
The way I am
If I can’t love myself
Then who else will?
The beginning of love
Is inside you.
