Once upon a time, the whole earth had one language and one speech, and man found and settled on a plain in the land of Shinar, in ancient Babylon.

They said to one another, ‘Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.’ Using bricks for stone and asphalt for mortar, they said, let us build ourselves a city and a tower whose top is in the heavens.

Then God came down to see what man was up to and said, ‘the people are one, and they all have one language, and nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.

So God decided to confuse their language that they would no longer understand each other and, as a result, be unable to achieve what they set out to do.

The End.

If you were wondering, this is the story of the ‘Tower of Babel’ taken from the Bible, and the underlying laws of this story are universal.

I don’t understand God’s reasoning behind sabotaging mans’ efforts by introducing confusion, but God’s statement and approach reveal one of the superpowers we possess as humans.

This superpower supported by universal laws is the power of agreement, and its kryptonite is confusion.

‘Agreement’ is defined in the dictionary as the act of agreeing or of coming to a mutual arrangement; the state of being in accord, unanimity of opinion; harmony in feeling.

When we agree with ourselves and others, there is unanimity of opinion and harmony, and in this state, there is nothing we cannot achieve.

‘Agreement’ is a conscious decision; it’s not a decision based on trends or societal pressure. You have to be in harmony with whatever you agree with.

‘Agreement’ has no moral compass, if you agree with good or bad, it will come to fruition, and like all decisions we make, there are always consequences.

‘Agreement’ with self is what gives us clarity, confidence, and belief in ourselves. We become more decisive and focused. We instinctively know and understand what steps to take to achieve our goals. And when we are lost, the universe steps in and guides us.

‘Agreement’ with others is a combined force and has a special universal law that says ‘if two or more agree on anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my father in heaven.’

‘Agreement’ with others is what makes business partnerships and marriages thrive. The parties involved in the agreement will quickly attain any goal they set out to accomplish due to their combined force. And I believe this is one of the advantages of marriage, but I digress.

In any ‘Agreement,’ all parties always have to be on the same page; the left hand must always know what the right hand is doing; else, confusion will slowly set in and prevent you from reaching your goals.

When we are in agreement with ourselves or others, the laws of the universe have no choice but to meet our needs and automatically guarantee our success. Even God recognizes this and that the only way around this law was to introduce confusion.

The tower of Babel’s story outlines two pre-requisites to achieve what we set out to do through agreement, so let’s jump right in.

Understanding — ‘The people are one, and they all have one language.’

As defined earlier, ‘Agreement’ is unanimity.

There has to be consensus in the agreement, with everyone having a common understanding of the goal. And the steps and processes required to achieve that goal.

When partnerships, business, or relationships fail, it’s because the partners don’t agree on a common goal, or at some point in the partnership, they start speaking different languages.

I don’t mean different languages in the literal sense, but their goals and intentions are no longer aligned.

And this is what I believe the text meant by ‘God confused their language’ because humans are way too resilient and relentless to allow something as minor as a language barrier to prevent us from achieving a common goal.

Purpose — Nothing they propose to do will be withheld from them.

The agreement to build a tower that will reach heaven was an audacious and seemingly impossible task to accomplish. Still, God knew this was possible because they had clarity of purpose that they had agreed upon.

If history has taught us anything, it’s no dream is too big to accomplish because universal laws are in full support of our goals.

So the question becomes, how do you know what to propose to do?

I won’t claim to have answers, but I know we all have unique gifts to share with the world, and it’s your job and responsibility to find it by looking within.

Whatever goals and desires we are trying to accomplish in life — perhaps our own tower of Babel, we cannot achieve them without agreeing with them.

When you understand yourself and others.

When you have clarity on what you propose to do and are in agreement with it, all you have to do is focus on the destination and let the universe chart the course.

The universe will thwart your best laid-out plans and force you to take paths you never considered.

It will lead you through easy and challenging paths; you will hit roadblocks but be rest assured the universe will never leave you stranded.

With each victory, you will discover more about yourself.

You will find out you have what it takes to meet anything thrown at you, and with these discoveries, your confidence will grow.

You will know that the potential for success is always bigger than the challenges.

You will begin to understand that you have always been equipped with all the tools you need to meet and overcome all challenges before you.
