A diamond birthed
deep in the earth’s
crust forged
by the hammer of Thor
and the fire of Zeus

its crystalline purpose
to become a symbol of love.

The anticline of bedrock
​ ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​​ ​ uplifted
pushed beyond its limit
trusts the folding
upper layers
​ ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​​ ​ rifted
outcroppings molded
into a sublime sweep that
takes your breath away.

Even a seed
accepts its calling
​ ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​​ ​ fallen
from atmospheric sun
to overcome
its unshelled self
​ ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​​ ​ cells dividing again
and again in dedication
becoming a tree
to breathe life
​ ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​​ ​ ​ ​ ​​ ​ into creation.
