The Silent Witness
A poem on spiritual insight

To be free of suffering,
And sail forever in happiness,
Desired I.
But the desire turned an impossibility;
As without darkness could light ever exist?
Take the one and other’s inevitable;
Oh! pity to all for their ignorance,
Of the nature of polarity that surrounds,
Running from sorrows towards joy,
But could day ever by without a night?
Thus I sat hollow within,
Neither ran away nor chased,
And as all the negativity appeared,
I watched;
And as all the positivity surrounded,
I watched;
In my watching, they emerged;
In my looking, they manifested;
In my witness, they departed.
Here I sat the silent witness,
Beyond all happiness and all suffering.
