The Tree of Life
Poetry
The deepest hues of rich darkness
The nutrient dense soil
Spreads itself across the ground
A hulking, mighty trunk
Bursts through the earth
It inspires awe in its grandeur
And in its stillness
Yet, as it reaches upward
Appears to be in motion
Growing in front of one’s eyes
Above, it branches up and out
In all directions
Across the sky
And still finer arms continue to fill out
Making this being robust
Yet from this mighty beast
Gentle buds appear
That then grow into leaves
Its entire self basks in the glorious sunlight
As its rooks sink deeper into the earth.
This, is the Tree of Life
Yet humanity has lost sight
It’s picture of reality fragmented
Born of the earth
We stop looking down
At our beginnings
From where we came
