“This wall, of caved stories.” Picture of the author at Fort Mandu, Madhya Pradesh, India.

There are these great unbreakable, unscalable walls,
Erected in times unknown, everlasting
Preserved with stories that instil fear and awe
Becoming a legacy, a legend, a lore, along its journey

How many of us see these walls as ideas to scale and go beyond?
How many wish to take this as a guideline that becomes the axis?
How many live behind it in fear, not even imagining the path across?
How many sit on this wall, and question the purpose of their existence?
How many restructure this wall creating anew from the given seed?
How many dare to dig and see how truly deep rooted is this wall giving us an identity?

The very foundation becomes a castle of unlimited questions
Brick by brick we keep adding to test the cracks
Cementing the structure with the many hues in us
And then leaving it to narrate the carved tales in time

This wall, is handed as a language, from the creator to me
This wall, set into motion our culture, tradition, heritage
This wall, though tainted with opinions, is a realm of ideas
This wall, stands decorated unmoved by the endless judgments
This wall, is a choice we must scale, build, shatter, ignore or respect
This wall, stands between the bygone and future, embracing the now
This wall, sang the very first tunes of shadows compelling us to fly away

With time silencing the voices, stoic
Through centuries holding the treasures, confidant
Acknowledging the created boundaries, accepting
Painted with emotions and memories, vulnerable

This wall, limited in appearance, holds the possibility of a palace of love within
This wall, resilient in architecture, is a witness to the shattering and crumbling in us
This wall, closing the door, encounters with certitude an unbound undisturbed passion
This wall, becomes you and me, as it absorbs the screams and laughter, standing as a symbol
This wall, beyond and through the wheel of time, is a gradual creation of oneness
This wall, blocks the light, so that we dance in the lamp of awareness we carry within
