After all, with the admonishment to show, not tell, I strive to reveal how my characters feel by the things they do — or don’t do — and the things they say — or don’t say.

Remember the movie, The Full Monty?
Well, in case you don’t, it’s a British movie in which Gaz, a laid-off steel worker, played by Robert Carlyle, convinces his friends in the same boat with him to try their hand at stripping.
It seems the women of the town flock to see the Chippendales take it all off. And they do mean all off. Hence, the full monty.
What does this have to do with writing?
Keep your panties on, I’m getting there.
I heard or read a story about the making of that film. There’s a point where Gaz can’t make his child support payments and may lose his visitation rights because of that.
