POETRY
What’s Underneath?
A poem about finding the flaws of a person and being okay with it
I want to see
Not your bio
Not your Instagram
I want to see the moron
I want to see what’s behind
I don't want to see
Where you have been traveling
Neither what you are binge-watching
Fuck positivity for a while
Show me your dark side
I want to swipe
Those happy posts
So much so…
That I swipe the curtain inside which
You lay naked listening to some music
Your friends don't know you listen to…
Talking to yourself
Blank face. No smile
Planning to go somewhere far away
Finding ways to make money
You set your hair once a week
And people think you have been always ready to go
Your life is fucked up
Like everyone else’s
But you think to be acceptable
You have to say “cheese”
But every now and then,
You put yourself inside a mirror
Beneath a curtain
Where we are now
One on one…
You see me
I see yours
And that’s how we are flawed.
We show off what we have and what we don’t
To the distant virtual world…
We preserve our flaws for those
Who Matter the Most…
