Not Just a Trailer, images by author

The old saying goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” It depends on who’s looking.

I was a photographer before a wordsmith. These are my two favorite forms of art, which I found later in life.

Late yesterday, my stroll near our Arizona home reminded me that the Wild West is alive in the Sonoran Desert.

It’s easy for most of us to dismiss what is familiar. But I’m looking for what may not seen by most. After almost an hour of exploring, I still hadn’t captured any images.

Patience is part of the art of life and photography and not one of my virtues. But walking around nowhere is fun for me, no people, mostly.

Solitude.

As I headed back to my car, resolved not to see much, I noticed this old trailer from a distance. She caught my eye, so I stopped and observed her beauty.

“What might this old trailer reveal to me?” I asked myself. I must ask her, but silently.

I got closer, stopped, focused, and clicked to capture the instant.

“Thank you,” I say to all.

A few more steps around my new friend, and I look through one of her windows.
