When the Universe Throws You a Curve Ball

Sometimes, life 𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗽𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘂𝗽𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 and shouts “RESET!”

Last year, I was establishing a presence on the Internet. I planned to use that to launch books, speaking engagements, and other “self-help guru” activities.

Then I had a powerful experience during a meditation. I was presented with three potential futures, each represented by a different colored box.

I could not even touch the red box. That was the 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲, the one who would spend their life fighting for their purpose. The world needs those people, but I’m not one of them.

The green box represented my current 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗴𝘂𝗿𝘂. But I realized, to become successful, I’d have to inflate my persona. I’d have to supersize my ego. Again, the world needs those people. But I’m not one of them.

Finally, I explored the blue box. It was subtle and quiet. It required leading by example, and helping others to do great things in the world. It was the 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵. I knew immediately that was who I wanted to be.

I would help others, rather than becoming famous myself. But how could I make a living at that…
