Why Indian Classical Music Feels Out of Tune with Modern Ears

Starting from a very early age, I have always heard my family had this perception that Indian Classical music is the best form of music. Why?honestly, I don’t know.

Maybe it’s because mastering it is, really difficult. But one thing I do know for sure is , it influenced how I see music. And that’s not in a good way.

In Indian Classical music, the rules are very strict.

Back in those days, gurus (hardcore music professors) didn’t just teach everyone their secret compositions and techniques. They used to pick “the eligible ones" who showed serious dedication and passed some eligibility tests. These chosen ones would then guard the compositions like family heirlooms, which they passed down only to their kids or grandkids.

Now, these privileged families (including mine, apparently) carried this whole “elite music education” concept for generations.
