Understanding the Layers
Writing isn’t just putting words on paper. It’s a process of becoming, engaging different parts of ourselves. The mind rationalizes and processes information. The heart filters and emotes our emotions. The soul is the essence of the divine self, holding wisdom and never-ending immortality. It’s a bridge tapping into our deeper truth. We are but a spark, burning bright, in a multi-dimensional universe.
Understanding and practicing writing in layers can engage the mind, feel the heart and spark the soul’s authentic voice. One such way is what I call using the mind, heart and soul method. I learned this method using word prompts in a writing exercise, elevating the writing experience and my connection to my words. What I found was it offered different perspectives and allowed for a deeper connection or dialogue with myself. I’d get a prompt and was instructed to write from the mind. Then next, I wrote from the heart. And finally, from my soul. Truth be told, this exercise blew my mind.
