What I learned about grief after losing everything to the lava

A river of boiling lava flowed vigorously from Fissure Eight. It traveled a full seven miles to the ocean, creating a new mass of underwater land.

Periodically, the burning river overflowed its 50–75 feet high banks, covering more land, decimating beautiful coastal recreational areas…
