Access Medium Anytime, Anywhere

Recent measures in Egypt resulted in major restrictions on both local and international digital outlets, including -but not limited to- the much prominent website; Medium.com.

Our Knowledge Officer team took it upon themselves to find a solution, coming up with a tool to access Medium anytime, anywhere…

“Why?” you ask? Here are our “3 Reasons Why”

What we REALLY think of VPN services

After the infamous blackout, Medium users went to the internet for solutions, they were usually faced with only one solution; VPN. While VPN seems to be the obvious answer to the “How to access Medium?” question, it comes at a price. VPN connections come with more than a few drawbacks. A CSIRO study, analyzing 283 VPNs, found that 75% of free VPN apps contained hidden tracking and 40% of free Android VPNs contain malware. In addition, trusting a free VPN to protect your privacy is pointless. You’ll find that several “free VPN” services are actually data collection tools. A VPN can also leak both your IPv4 and IPv6 addresses leaving you exposed when using your VPN service.

Freedom of the press

The United Nations’ 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference, and to seek, receive, and impart information and ideas through any media regardless of frontiers”.

A yearly report by Freedom House; a US-based non-governmental organization, measures the level of freedom and editorial independence enjoyed by the press in nations and significant disputed territories around the world, states that all but some of Middle Eastern and North African countries lies within the “Not free” category; meaning they have very limited to non-existent freedom of the press.

Top quality content

At Knowledge Officer, we’re always committed to bringing you high quality, top-notch content. This takes a tremendous amount of time and effort from our team, and a consistent need to be able to access multiple online platforms. And so when Medium got blocked, our team just didn’t want to risk consistently using VPN services, and we thought to ourselves, why should you? So we put our thinking hats on and developed a tool to access Medium, without all the VPN hassle.

The tool can be accessed on http://knowledgeofficer.com/medium. All you need to do is paste the URL of the medium article you’d like to access, and voila! The tool only covers Medium.com though, so it won’t work with other “blocked” websites.

Feel free to get in touch with us on team@knowledgeofficer.com and leave your feedback. We’d love to hear if the tool made your life easier, or if you have any recommendations to make it better.
