There are some things that can’t wait for a pandemic to be over — like world domination.

“We want to conquer the world,” said Guernica Mancini, lead vocalist for Swedish quartet Thundermother. “We want world domination, and that’s not a joke, at least not for me. We want to be as big as AC/DC and Guns N’ Roses and Foo Fighters and play arenas and be the first all-female rock band being mainstream and huge.”

The band (Mancini, Filippa Nässil, Emlee Johansson, Majsan Lindberg) is certainly ambitious, but luckily, they have the goods to back up that confidence, as evidenced on the release of their 2020 album Heat Wave as a deluxe edition with 10 additional tracks. The collection shows the range of the group, as well as a taste of their live show, and though it may seem odd to put out a deluxe record so soon after the initial release, experiencing a year like no other in 2020 made it a no brainer to give their fans another shot of the record in 2021.

“This is by far the best album that we’ve created…this far,” said Mancini. “I’m hoping that we’re going to continue to create equally good stuff. But we’re really proud of the album Heat Wave, and we wanted to reach as many people as possible and reach the next level in our career. And we did.
