The Thai military and police raided the Agama Yoga Center in Koh Phangan in September 2018.

This center is one of the largest yoga training centers in the world. Swami’s teacher is an infamous Romanian guru, Gregorian Bivolaru, who was sentenced to six years in prison for having sex with a minor girl.

Swami Vivekananda Saraswati then claimed to be “the brilliant representative of a unique and modern trend of thought in yoga” that “attained high levels of spiritual realization”.

At the time, the Swami warned those who would dare to speak against him, “that they were under the demonic influence and that they would have hellish consequences for many lives to come.“

Former teachers at the center had also been accused of rape or sexual assault in the past and members of the former staff reportedly claimed that Swami paid the authorities, according to The Thaiger.

According to The Thaiger, the Agama Center has been a “ghost town” for weeks. Almost all of the center’s staff resigned following the July revelations. Swami has fled the country quickly.
