Expressing Christianity through the art of music is unbelievably powerful. Showing feelings of trust and love for God is electrifying and becomes even more powerful when it is set to music. If you ever need a good gospel song on a hard day I have three amazing ones to choose from.
Who Compares By Bridget Moses
Who Compares is an upbeat and fun-loving song about how powerful God is. Performed behind a beautiful and catchy guitar, this song shows Bridget’s love for God as something fun and irresistible.
While love for God is very serious and deep, it can also become fun when presented with so much life and enjoyment. This song does just that, combining lyrics about how powerful the all mighty God is with effortless vocals and a fun-loving beat to back them up.
Confidence By Sanctus Real
Confidence is an amazing song from 2018 that uses Biblical references to describe what the singer is asking of God. The singer wants all the tools necessary to be a good Christian. These being faith, hope, and a good heart.
It’s very clever and helps humanize the singer as he is asking God for these blessings.
I almost interpret it as a prayer between the singer and God. He is asking God to give him these blessings so he can face his problems with confidence.
Soul’s Anthem By Tori Kelly
Tori Kelly’s whole gospel album could have made it on this list. Every song is an absolute masterpiece. Each song gets everything right from production to vocals. Every time she sings on this album it is as if an angel is serenading her child.
Soul’s Anthem is an amazing example of everything this album gets right. From the minimal but addicting production, which features an encapsulating background choir, to her unbelievable writing and vocals. Her vocals have never sounded better. They are raw and full of emotion and could carry the song on their own.
The lyrics depict someone who is scared but knows that even though they aren’t in control they trust God and it is well with their soul through this hard time.
It’s a gospel masterpiece and deserves a lot more love and praise. There’s a reason this album won a Grammy.
Gospel music can teach us and bring us closer to God and also introduces us to new mediums to appreciate and show our love for God.
