A Response to Those Who Ridicule Marriage
I canceled the response and made it a story instead
Married for 54² years here.
We stayed because we said we would.
We stayed because our kids need a good example.
We stayed because living as a couple is more health-giving for both.
We stayed because we love each other, and love never ends.
But the most important reason is that God hates divorce¹ and we both love God.
Those who truly love God are just different: We try. And we have access to a strength and to a love others cannot understand.
There are a thousand reasons more, but this is what others are missing: The love that never ends and grows and grows until we cry for missing each other, at the thought of one of us ever passing.
It’s not the stuff of ridicule. It’s marriage.
