Most people can’t get this; I pray you are one of those who can.

Look:

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9 NKJV)

You should notice two things in this quote:

  1. Fear is an option.
  2. We are commanded to opt-out of it.

Instead, we talk like this:

I just can’t help it if I’m … It’s just the way I am…I am afraid of… It makes me so nervous when… I’m not talking to her when she’s being scary…

Truly, it’s as if WE are the holy I AM.

Also, we scare our children deliberately. We tell them about the boogey man. We show them horrifying movies, allow them to play super-high-tension games, get them books about ghosts, dress them as witches and send them out on the witches’ highest holy night, create haunted houses for them.

And we are proud of it.

We threaten them as a form of discipline. We leave them alone, figuring they’re old enough to be left. We scream and do other unstable actions that cause…
