The nature of work can be different from person to person. However, every work does come with a set of challenges.

Here are some practical strategies and valuable perspectives to nurture your well-being amid the highs and lows of work and family life when feeling stressed, anxious, or lonely:

Physical well-being

  • Exercise as often as possible.
  • Get out in nature.
  • Take slow, deep breaths from the diaphragm. A proven exercise is to breathe with your nose for 4 counts, hold for 4 counts, exhale from mouth for 6 counts. This exercise relaxes your mind and boosts your sleep.
  • Engage in hobbies.
  • Eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, and legumes. Swap energy drinks with fresh water.

Practice one or all of these as often as you can, especially when you feel overwhelmed and exhausted. Look after your body as it is precious because our Savior shed His blood on the cross for it.

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your( spirit, which are God’s.

(1 Corinthians 6: 19–20, NKJV)

Mindset

  • There is always be something to worry about, so focus on things you can control like your health, family and doing good for others.
  • Learn to love healthy eating, exercising often and taking regular breaks from your screen.

Mindset is a belief… and we have our belief in our Creator and Provider.

Trust the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5, NKJV)

Be Mindful

  • Journaling. Daily journaling is better but often is beneficial too.
  • Set aside time for personal devotions.
  • It is ok to take a break or not have anything planned or in your diary/calendar.

Being aware of your internal state and talking to God in prayer can open doors that you never knew existed.

Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving. (Colossians 4:2, NKJV)

Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! (Psalms 46:10, NKJV)

Some days are going to be more challenging than others, but you can equip yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually to face these challenges.
