You’ve been lied to. The common expression “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder” is a misconception you should be concerned about because it puts a lot of stress and onus on you to find value and validation in your self-worth.

It puts added pressure on you to feel beautiful before you can believe it and accept that you are, which sounds exhausting. Feelings are fickle and they change every day, like the weather. It doesn’t sound like a sustainable way to #LiveYourBestLife.

It’s a decision

It was a hot day in Melbourne, Australia, and my feet hurt in the 3-inch platform heels I had been pounding the pavement in for the past half an hour. I was lost and worse, late, because I couldn’t find the office for my life!

Before the lifesaving invention of Google maps, I had written out the directions on a scrap piece of paper, but that wasn’t working out the way I’d hoped. My internal GPS had retired.

I popped into the McDonald’s opposite the train station for directions. A few turns and four minutes later, I finally rocked up to the door of Blah-Blah-Blah Model Agency*, gross and sweaty. I quickly walked up and down the corridor for them, shoulders back, hips…
