Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
(1 Thessalonians 5:11, NKJV)

All the troubles in life come from someone not obeying God. All.

My husband and I volunteer at our local county detention center. We present a time of worship/teaching on Saturdays, that includes music, prayer, and a sermon. The inmates asked for it and were granted permission for it. No one is required to attend, but the room is always packed.

When they were first studying the Bible, on their own, they noticed phrases that mention standing to pray, so they said, “Bible people stood up to pray, so we will too.” When my husband is greeting inmates and readying to begin the service, he often says, “But first, let’s pray.”

A palpable rush of rustling uniforms and scooting chairs follows, as they all stand for prayer. It is their habit to honor the act of talking to God by standing. Awed in the presence of the One Who has been meeting them where they are, they end in unison, a deep-voiced “Amen” that gives me chills.

Awe in the Presence…

Illegal drug use is the most common crime. Our state has a huge addiction problem for many reasons, not the least…
