Do Not Despair — God's Not Done Yet

God has even greater plans for you than you could ever imagine.

This month's scripture prompt comes from the book of 2 Samuel.

When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. (2 Samuel 7:12–13, ESV)

This verse has a lot to unpack. Let's start with some context.

God's promise to David

While sitting on his throne, King David begins to think about God. He realizes that God has given him peace and prosperity. He lives wealthily in a palace, yet the Ark of the Covenant is housed in a tent.

David planned to build a temple for God to house the Ark of the Covenant, but God had other plans. God promised to build a kingdom in King David's name and that his offspring and descendants would continue to rule after his death.
