Do Prolific Writers Earn More Money Than Marketers on Medium?

The Great October Experiment
I have read,
“People who have the most success on Medium are prolific writers. Medium’s algorithm prioritizes writers who post multiple stories each day.”
I tested that theory in the month of October 2019 by NOT writing anything new but only promoting one different piece a day on 10 Facebook groups I’m a member of.
Background
I started writing for Medium in February 2019. That first month I made $8.12. In March, I earned $28.24. The most I earned in a month since then was $95.94.
The average earnings over the 5 months prior to the October experiment was $83. In October, I earned $54.
So although I did not write anything new I earned only $29 less than an average month of writing.
My conclusion
It is possible to continue to earn money on Medium by marketing your older pieces over and over.
