In a couple of passages from the Bible, it’s mentioned that there were occasions when Jesus didn’t perform miracles. This wasn’t because He lacked the ability or the desire, but rather because people doubted His capability.

He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. (Mark 6:5, NIV)

And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith. (Matthew 13:58, NIV)

Reflecting on those moments when people disregarded His power, I find myself unsure of how Jesus must have felt. It’s evident that without faith, receiving anything from God becomes impossible, as highlighted in Hebrews 11:6. We need to have faith in God’s character and His ability to provide.

Regardless of life’s challenges, we must never doubt God’s power or His willingness to help us. The moment doubt creeps in, it alters our thoughts, words, and actions, becoming a barrier to the miracles we seek.

But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do. (James 1:6–9, NIV)

Rather than trying to figure out how our desires will be fulfilled by God, our role is to believe wholeheartedly, just like the woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5:21–34) and the Roman Centurion (Matthew 8:5–13). Their unwavering belief and corresponding actions led to the miracles they received. God delights in honoring such steadfast faith.
