SCRIPTURE PROMPT
Four Steps to Busting That Fear of Failure
Inspired by a wonderful verse from Joshua 1
For many of us who live in relative comfort and prosperity in the West, there doesn’t appear to be much — on the surface — to fear.
We are free from war, famine, plagues, animals that eat us, and evil dictators… mostly.
However, fear is an intrinsic part of the human condition. We will ALWAYS find something to be fearful about.
Fear of failure is a common fear that most people have experienced. We don’t like to look like a failure in front of other people.
Learning to deal with the fear of failure is extremely common- and many of us steer clear of situations where we expect to fail.
Unfortunately, if we are unwilling to risk failure, our life is going to be very limited.
This month’s Koinonia Scripture prompt says:
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9, NIV)
What would have happened if Joshua had let fear of failure direct his next steps? The course of Old Testament history would have been massively changed forever.
