There is a hidden crisis happening in Christianity today. It is ignored by churches and not openly discussed by mission agencies, but it happening as we speak.

Most churches around the world would agree that their mandate is to make disciples of all nations and to spread the good news to every tribe and tongue around the globe (Matt 28:16–20).

We have seen varied success in this mission over the past 2,000 years, but lately, the West seems to be losing momentum in fulfilling the Great Commission.

There are many reasons behind the decline in what once was a powerhouse of Christian charity and Gospel proclamation. But in this article, I would like to address one close to my heart. Missionary Attrition.

I have done a lot of research on why missionaries are leaving the mission field, their lack of effectiveness while in the field, and relationships between missionaries and sending agencies/churches. But I would like to take a more personal and proactive approach in this piece today.

Effectiveness in ministry is always linked to time. Most gospel endeavors do not experience immediate success. As ministers of the Gospel imbed themselves…
