Accepting accountability and knowing its purpose
The “lone ranger” man needs to wake up
Every last Saturday of the month, the brothers from my church and I get together for our Men’s Fellowship.
This is a time in which we come together to deal with issues impeding our relationships with Christ and each other, as well as receive encouragement and strength from one another.
One of the things we’ve realized over the years is that the need for accountability is great among men, both in our local church and among men at large. However, it’s one of those things that is often misunderstood, avoided, and downright rejected!
Accountability is defined by Merriam-Webster as “subject to giving an account: answerable.” At its core, someone who is accountable is someone willing to be held responsible by others for the decisions they make- in action and in speech. They are honest about where they are and are open to the input of others wiser than them and apply the input they receive.
