The beauty of the mountaintop experience is something that everybody wants. We all love to feel on top of the world, and we will do everything to stay there.

However, most of our lives will be lived walking through the valleys of the shadows of different stuff that we don’t know.

We pray and hope to get to the mountaintop of whatever tickles our fancy, but we hardly pray to receive whatever it is we need to walk through the valleys. We don’t want to get anywhere near the valley.

Indeed, we can deploy our faith as a shield against falling into the dreaded valley. But there is no shield against a road we must necessarily pass through, even if it runs through a dark valley.

This is where God shows himself as a reliable companion, a trusted guide, and a light in the darkness.

God is our refuge and strength: a very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1, KJV)

God is very present through good and bad times. God is present even when we are not present — when even our mind is absent in the situation.

Why you need grace

We must necessarily pass through the valley. The valley could be any type of adversity or trial.

Grace is the anchor for your soul in the storms of life. Grace in adversity is the consciousness of God’s presence. Grace is the hope that help is on the way. It is the fuel you need to keep going.

Grace is what you need to know and accept that the valley is not your destination but a highway to a better place.

It will keep you in peace while help is on the way.

Grace will flood your heart with joy, even in the middle of your biggest trials.

It will keep you in faith, regardless of the storms and afflictions.

It’s grace that will help you to outlive your adversities and adversaries and get to the other side of the valley.

When you lack grace

When you lack grace, you will miss divine companionship and the comfort you desperately need in times of need. You then become more prone to irredeemable failure.

You will faint in the day of the adversity (Proverbs 24:10, KJV) if your strength fails and you don’t plug into God’s grace.

You can become easily discouraged when you lack grace. You become fearful, angry, and frustrated when you are struggling to find your way around the dark valley all by yourself.

For those who were once in the faith, the moment you ran out of grace was the point you gave up your faith and descended into a spiritual coma.

Conclusion

The reward is on the other side of the valley. There is no victory for you if you do not get through the valley. Grace is what you need to go through whatever you are facing with hope and faith in God.
