Since being saved in 2001, I have had an interest in hearing the stories of other believers who have given their lives to Jesus.

You can read my story here:

Through this series, I want to share with you a little snapshot into the lives of Christians and their before and after stories.

Erica Hawkshaw was born in 1979 and gave her heart to the Lord at the tender age of 6. She’s been ‘saved’ for as long as she can remember. Her prayer life has remained pretty much the same but now she’s more mature in her wording and understands that God isn’t going to tell Mom to let her have the chocolate bar before dinner. She doesn’t like to pray in public, but she does talk with God on a daily basis — be it one small prayer or down on her knees bearing her heart. You’re invited to join us in learning a little bit about Erica and her salvation story.

“My story is rather boring.

As long as I can remember, my family has always attended church.

I learned about Jesus from a very early age and accepted Him when I was still a young child. I have always been a part of the faith whether it be attending church, going to a private Christian school (both high school and university), and have never really doubted the Bible’s teachings.

There have been numerous times in my life where God has just been too real to ignore; providing jobs, providing friendships, protection, healings, etc.

I know there are areas that I need to work on (anger), but that’s what being human is all about and God is patient enough to still be there and love me as I continue to learn and grow in Him.

Being a believer definitely helped me through my cancer journey.

There was this one time where I was laying on a table while a surgeon inserted markers into my breast to map out the area of my tumor. Although I was mostly frozen, he hit a tender spot and hurt me. I was alone and had no hand to reach out and hold, a single tear rolled down my cheek and I remember thinking that the Bible says how He collects all our tears and I knew He was collecting that one single tear and I wasn’t alone.

He was and is always there with me.”

Stay tuned as I will be continuing to share salvation stories of other Christians through this “What’s Your Story?” series.
