I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)

In a moment of insanity, I agreed to participate in NaNoWriMo. Lee Warren, who has taken on the NaNoWriMo challenge for years, recruited several of us from a local Christian writers’ group to join him. November is the month set aside to attempt this crazy feat.

National Novel Writing Month

NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. The idea behind NaNoWriMo is to get more people writing. They toss out a challenge — write a 50,000-word first draft novel in one month.

I should have counted the cost before I took the leap, but alas, I didn’t.

I blindly jumped in with both feet. After I committed myself to give it a try, I came to my senses and remembered our family not only spends Thanksgiving together at my house, but we have three November birthdays to celebrate as well.

Somehow amid the craziness of the month, I succeeded in writing fifty thousand words. Make that 50,043 to be exact. It’s called a challenge for a reason. My commitment to writing, my sanity, and schedule were challenged throughout the month.
