“We don’t need someone else’s permission.” — Henneke

Just finished reading the post on Enchanting Marketing dot com, for June 14, and what Henneke Duistermaat stated, above, was so very true. She was talking about permission to be whatever we already are. I don’t need permission, for instance, to be a writer; I just need to write.

It was a startling and hope-giving statement, and I consumed her post like a starved puppy.

She further wrote of finding the hidden place inside the soul that has never (yet) been wounded. This reference sent me falling — many decades back in my life — as I assessed my past while still reading.

It was like Alice falling down the rabbit hole, really…

I landed in a high school English class, the day after a test.

What is a poem?

I was in my mid-teens when I experienced the most amazing English teacher I’d ever encountered. I so loved and needed her! We’d finished a unit of poetry and had studied some good ones and learned a lot.

During a test of that unit, when I’d turned the page to the last question on the test, I was shocked:

“What is a poem?”
